Ads
Just five minutes ago I was catching up on a television show I watch. Since there are designated commercial breaks while the show is aired, online the television companies sells advertising spots to one advertisement or company. Since the show is online these commercials last about thirty seconds but this is a great time for a company to sell products. This may be because it is the only advertisement, not one of twenty, the individual sees at the breaks. These advertisements seem to have large influences on me. Even if i may not be the target audience I enjoy most of these ads. For example, today there was one for a scrubbing bubbles product. A product that cleaned the toilet and disintegrated after two weeks. This advertisement interested me because it involved doing less work in an area I hate spending time cleaning. Often time advertisements interest me when they are eliminating stress or fixing something I think is wrong. I think that is the problem many people have addresses with advertisements in the past, especially advertisements targeting women. Women, it seams, like to fix things even themselves. There is a standard women feel they need to uphold and that is primarily due to advertisements, as seen in the video we watched in class. For this reason many people are affected by ads that target something they think is wrong or could be fixed with themselves or something they interact with. Advertisements are very influential in this way. There is nothing we can do about this advertisement overload and that is a problem with media today. It has an every lasting influence.

I find that most of the commercials on the internet are advertising shows on the channel that you are watching. If the commercial is intriguing, I will give the show a shot more often than not. Since it is the only commercial like you said, I believe people pay more attention to them than regular commercials. Since they are only 30 seconds, very rarely do I get up to get a snack or something. But on TV, when the commericals are 2 minutes long, I am much more likely to not watch them .
